Flower colors	The fragrant flowers have sepals and petals varying from pale rose to dark lilac. The lip presents, in the central part, a darker triangular blotch. The undulated margins are bright lilac and the inside (fauce) is golden-yellow.
Number of flower for spike	From two to five.
Flower size	The biggest of Brazilian Cattleya species , it can reach 22cmacross. Plants with 25cm flowers have been reported.
Preferred conditions	It needs intermediate to warm conditions and bright light. It is important to protect it from receiving direct noon sunbeam. The watering should be reduced in order to have a cooler drier winter however the substrate should be kept moist. It does well in humid environment.
Season of bloom	The blooming occurs in September until November which can extend until December (Springtime in South hemisphere) but there can be another blooming from June to July such this plant on the picture.
Origin	Brazil (south of the state of Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and north of Rio de Janeiro).
Comments	There are many varieties but the most beautiful is the alba.

Colorido das flores	Suas perfumadas flores têm as pétalas e as sépalas variando do rosa pálido até o lilás escuro. O labelo apresenta, em sua parte central, uma mácula triangular mais escura. As margens são encrespadas e lilás claro e a parte interna (fauce) é amarelo-dourada.
Número de flores por haste	De duas a cinco flores.
Tamanho da flor	A maior de todas as espécies brasileiras de Cattleya, pode atingir 22cm de diâmetro. Já foram apresentadas plantas com flores de 25cm.
Condições requeridas	Precisa com clima temperado ou mais quente e de um ambiente úmido e bem iluminado, no entanto, é importante protegê-la do sol do meio-dia, sobretudo na primavera e no verão. A rega deverá sofrer uma redução durante o inverno mas nunca deixar o substrato secar completamente.
Época da floração	A época da floração vai de setembro até novembro podendo se estender até dezembro mas pode haver uma floração ocorrendo em junho e julho como é o caso desta planta da fotografia.
Origem	Brasil (sul do estado da Bahia, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais e norte do Rio de Janeiro).
